Chairman and CEO
Robert assumed the roles of Chairman and CEO of HPX in December 2015. He also is the founder, Executive Chairman, and a director of Ivanhoe Mines Ltd and is the Chairman and President of Ivanhoe Capital Corporation. He directed the assembly by Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. of a portfolio of interests in several countries over 15 years and led the company’s discoveries and initial development of the Oyu Tolgoi copper-gold-silver deposits in southern Mongolia. Robert has received wide recognition for his work in the industry including Mining Personality of the Year at the inaugural Asia Mining Awards in 2012 and the Dealmaker of the Year award for Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. from Australia’s Diggers and Dealers Mining Forum in 2011.
Eric was appointed President of HPX in 2015 after serving as Senior Advisor-Business Development since 2013. Prior to joining HPX, he spent 24 years with Rio Tinto including 5 years as Global Head of Exploration. Eric’s global multi-commodity experience is an asset to HPX as are his extensive industry contacts.
Chief Operating Officer
Mark Gibson is the Chief Operating Officer of HPX. He has a similar role with two HPX-associated companies — Kaizen Discovery (TSX-V: KZD) and Cordoba Minerals (TSX-V: CDB). Mr. Gibson joined HPX in 2011 as the company’s founding Chief Executive Officer. He was instrumental in the formation of Kaizen Discovery in 2013, and HPX’s strategic partnership with Cordoba Minerals. Before joining HPX, Mr. Gibson worked with Anglo American, and was the founder of a geophysical service company focused on managing seismic surveys for the mining industry. He has more than 26 years of wide-ranging experience as a geoscientist and manager in the natural resources sector.
Charles Forster, P.Geo.
Vice President Exploration
Charles is a Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) and has more than 45 years of diversified mineral exploration experience in Canada, United States, Sub-Saharan Africa, Portugal, China and Mongolia. He was formerly the Senior Vice President of Exploration at Oyu Tolgoi in Mongolia for Ivanhoe Mines (now Turquoise Hill Resources) from early 2001 to June 2008. During this time, he led a team of multi-national and Mongolian geologists in the discovery and delineation of the world-class Oyu Tolgoi copper-gold porphyry deposit.
Graham is HPX’s Principal Geologist, working with Charlie and Eric on finding the next generation of opportunities for HPX. He is a leader in the exploration efforts of the Alacran and San Matias projects in Colombia, and the Tinajas project in Peru. Before joining HPX, Graham worked with Ivanhoe Mines Mongolia in 2006, continuing in 2008 with Ivanhoe Australia in the Conclurry district, where he was part of the discovery team for Merlin, the world’s highest-grade Mo-Re deposit.
